This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Blue Origin is seeking a skilled Quality Inspector with expertise in Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operations to join our dynamic team. The Quality Inspector will be responsible for performing detailed inspections of manufactured parts and components to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to team efforts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify discrepancies, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve inspection-related issues.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly convey inspection results and findings.
  • Organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Responsibilities

  • Operating the CMM: Utilize the CMM to conduct precise measurements of parts, ensuring adherence to dimensional tolerances and specifications.
  • Program Development and Modification: Create, modify, and optimize CMM inspection programs using software such as PC-DMIS or Calypso.
  • Interpreting Blueprints: Understand and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and other documentation to guide inspection procedures.
  • Performing Inspections: Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of manufactured parts using the CMM and other measuring tools as necessary.
  • Documentation: Record inspection data, document findings, and prepare reports to track quality and identify potential issues.
  • Problem Solving: Identify defects and communicate issues to relevant personnel.
  • Quality Control: Contribute to overall quality control efforts by verifying that manufactured parts meet specified standards.
  • Perform inspections per drawing and work order requirements and document non-conformances.
  • Understand practical applications of different inspection types and methodologies.
  • Have significant awareness of interfaces between hardware inspections and the rest of the Quality organization.
  • Troubleshoot inspection issues.
  • Participate in the development of inspection optimization projects.
  • Work within a team but independently perform inspections.
