This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join our team at Blue Origin. In this role, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive visual inspections of cast hardware according to internal standards and industry specifications. Your expertise in dimensional verification using handheld measurement tools, custom fixtures, borescopes, and ultrasonic equipment will be essential to maintaining our high-quality standards. Your responsibilities will include accurately documenting inspection results in Blue Origin's systems and generating nonconformance reports when defects or failed inspection points are discovered. You will conduct systematic work center audits to verify adherence to work instructions and achievement of quality objectives. As a collaborative team member, you will identify improvement opportunities and work with stakeholders on continuous improvement initiatives. You will partner with quality and engineering colleagues to develop effective inspection plans and work instructions. The ideal candidate demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, strong technical skills, and excellent documentation abilities. Experience with aerospace manufacturing quality control processes and familiarity with industry standards is highly desirable. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in receiving, in process or final inspection environments.
  • Superior blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in the use of precision hand tools, gages, borescopes and other handheld MT&E
  • Ability to select the correct tool for the inspection task
  • Experience with non-conformances, corrective actions, and other quality management system activities.
  • Familiar with the use of personal computers.
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace, aviation, or space experience is a plus
  • CAD familiarity
  • Inventory system knowledge
  • Metrology familiarity
  • Basic machining knowledge
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
  • Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of cast hardware in accordance with internal command media and industry standard specifications
  • Perform dimensional verifications using handheld MT&E and custom fixtures, to include borescopes and ultrasonic equipment.
  • Accurately document and record results of inspections within Blue Origin’s systems
  • Generate nonconformances upon discovery of defects or failed inspection points
  • Perform work center audits to ensure work instructions are followed and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Provide input on areas of opportunity and collaborate with stakeholders on continuous improvement projects
  • Work with respecting quality and engineering resources to develop inspection plans and work instructions
  • Provide inspection time estimates.
  • Maintain and track all inspection equipment calibrations.
  • Safely work within an industrial environment.
