About The Position

Quality Inspector II is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries. Essential Responsibilities: The Helicopter QA Inspector will be responsible for monitoring all safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with contract specifications. Evaluates flightline and back shop maintenance tasks and inspections to include items identified by the KTL/RIL. Inspects and verifies proper completion and documentation of safety and flight discrepancies. Evaluate forms documentation and MIS inputs. Briefs and debriefs pilots and crewmembers assigned to functional check flights on aircraft. Evaluates personnel, including verification of skills, training and experience. Performs audits and inspections of work centers and ongoing maintenance actions, procedures, equipment and facilities. Performs QA review of Dull Swords, Unsatisfactory Reports, TCTOs, OTIs, modification proposals, DRs and SR, AFTO IMTs 22 and local OIs IAW AFI 21-101. Examines parts and components for conformance to design specification to determine serviceability. Monitors timelines and applicability of aircraft maintenance technical data and technical library. Enters inspection and evaluation reports into the appropriate QA database. Reviews maintenance source documents, aircraft inspection records, notes recurring discrepancies or trends and initiates appropriate action. May be responsible for the weight and balance program, Foreign Object Damage/Dropped Object Prevention Program, Product Improvement Program, Local Manufacturer Program, Job Standard Program, Impoundment Program, Functional Check Flight Program, and/or any other programs as required by AFI 21-101. Performs complete oversight of third-party contractors performing aircraft maintenance. Performs other duties related to the occupational field as assigned, to include temporary duty (TDY) and travel assignments as required, and additional duties to include TODO Alternate. Must be able to work, day shift, second shift, third shift, and/or weekend shifts as required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have a broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and Air Force technical publications.
  • Must have a working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and know how to operate portable firefighting equipment.
  • Must be able to complete TODA training IAW 00-5-series within the probationary period.
  • The ability to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications are required.
  • Exceptional communication skills, leadership abilities, and personnel management skills are required.
  • Must be familiar with Maintenance Information System (MIS) to retrieve and input information.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain & maintain a flightline driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work, day shift, second shift, third shift, and/or weekend shifts as required.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of eight years’ working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations on one or more of the following aircraft: UH1N, Bell 212, UH-1 or similar rotary-winged aircraft is preferred.
  • An FAA A&P certificate is highly preferred.
