About The Position

Ferrara/KME are premiere manufacturers of fire trucks and emergency response vehicles offering a full line of pumpers, aerials, industrial, wildland, and rescue apparatus. Working hands-on with both municipal and industrial fire departments, the Ferrara/KME team thrives on diagnosing departments' current apparatus limitations and response needs to custom design the perfect fire apparatus solution that will stand the test of time. The Quality Control Inspector I is responsible for conducting visual inspections, tests, routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials in process and finish product, using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read and understand English.
  • Should have good communication skills
  • Must be able to climb, twist, bend and stoop.
  • Must have use of hands and be able to work over-head.
  • Must be able to stand, squat, and grasp.
  • Must be able to lift up 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough inspections of materials, partial builds and complete builds. Includes chassis, body, electrical, plumbing, paint and finished products.
  • Conducts thorough inspections of incoming chassis and materials.
  • Verifies products are built to specifications.
  • Verify products meet industry standards.
  • Performs function tests of products.
  • Performs inspections using instrumentation to verify integrity and functionality of product.
  • Reads results and compares test results to verify accuracy to standards, schematics and blueprints.
  • Documents inspection and test results to maintain record of product quality.
  • Assists in resolutions of issues to meet standards and create a quality product. Estimate allowed time for testing and inspection repairs or re-work.
  • Revision and update of inspection and test documentation as needed.
  • Perform special projects involving testing and inspection requiring test instruments for problem solving process validation.
  • Identify and mark unacceptable product for disposal or return.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance product safety, quality and reliability.
