About The Position

The Inspector I position at Cox Automotive involves verifying vehicle information based on work order details, identifying damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues by inspecting customer vehicles upon receipt. Responsibilities include preparing necessary documentation, conducting inspections, and maintaining knowledge of policies and procedures. The role requires writing electronic condition reports, performing courtesy walk-around inspections, and demonstrating a commitment to safety. Additional duties may be assigned by management, and overtime may be required as business needs dictate.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Generally less than 2 years' experience in a related field.
  • Successful ICP Level I written/field exam.
  • Understanding of Baseline Inspections (Electronic Condition Report) & vehicle grading.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Body, paint and mechanical repair knowledge.
  • Familiarity with unibody and full-frame vehicles.
  • Good organizational skills needed.
  • Ability to multitask, follow directions and take instruction required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat or kneel.
  • Ability to lift and hold at least 10 lbs at waist level for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in the automobile field (i.e., inspections, body/mechanic shop, etc.) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verify vehicle information based on work order information.
  • Identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at the time of receipt.
  • Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Set up system for day-end and perform day-end procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Write electronic condition reports (ECR).
  • Conduct OVE courtesy walk-around inspections.
  • Maintain knowledge of system capabilities and job-relevant software packages.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
