About The Position

Cox Automotive is seeking an Inspector I to join our Vehicle Operations team. This role involves verifying vehicle information based on work order details, identifying damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues by inspecting customer vehicles upon receipt. The inspector will prepare and complete necessary documentation, maintain knowledge of policies and procedures, and write electronic condition reports. The position requires a commitment to safety and participation in safety activities. Additional responsibilities include performing day-end procedures and other duties as assigned by management. Overtime may be required based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Generally, less than 2 years' experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Successful ICP Level I written/field exam.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in the automobile field (i.e., inspections, body/mechanic shop).
  • Understanding of Baseline Inspections (Electronic Condition Report) & vehicle grading.
  • Body, paint and mechanical repair knowledge.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with unibody and full-frame vehicles.
  • Good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Verify vehicle information based on work order information.
  • Identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles.
  • Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Set up system for day-end and perform day-end procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Write electronic condition reports (ECR).
  • Maintain knowledge of system capabilities and job-relevant software packages.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
