The Construction Inspector ensures compliance with drawings, specifications, applicable standards, codes, and all contract documents for Anchorage School District construction projects. This inspection position focuses primarily on mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems, and is tasked with general construction inspection, plan review, and a wide range of other duties, as requested, to ensure quality in both new construction and renovation of ASD facilities. The Construction Inspector is key to the department's quality assurance and quality control program and assists the project manager in reviewing RFIs, change orders, information bulletins, pay applications, and other required tasks to ensure constructability, accuracy, and conformance to contract documents. This work requires physical activities such as climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. The worker is exposed to cold, heat, noise, vibrations, electrical equipment, oils, and atmospheric conditions. The work is performed indoors and outdoors. May be required to work fourteen (14) feet above the floor or ground level. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).
