About The Position

The Inspector B is responsible for performing inspections and/or audits of purchased parts, materials, equipment and quality control programs. Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and lists to approve or reject units or systems for in-process or final assemblies. Performs sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. Ensures raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet company standards. Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection.

Requirements

  • Able to use and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and work to inspection procedures.
  • Able to follow and execute to verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent, plus two years of technical schooling related to engineering, science and/or mathematics.
  • The two years schooling may be satisfied through one of the following: 1. An Associates degree in an engineering or science program OR 2. Five college credit technical courses in the area of engineering, science, and/or mathematics. One college level writing class can be counted toward the five courses.
  • Quality Inspector Certification (CQI) from the American Society of Quality (ASQ).
  • For employee who satisfy the Education requirement, a minimum of 4 years experience is required in a quality assurance organization performing tasks related to the inspection of either mechanical or electrical commodities.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on a variety of materials, components, assemblies, and/or systems.
  • Document work results and generates inspection reports.
  • Types of inspections include visual, workmanship, dimensional, and electrical.
  • Documents work results and generates inspection reports.
  • Complies with safety and security rules and observes good housekeeping practices.
  • Accomplishes assignments with minimum direct supervision.
