About The Position

Perform Housing Quality Standards inspections (including Lead-Based paint compliance) of housing units and properties that are subsidized under the Housing Choice Voucher Program and managed by the local Administrator. Essential Duties: Perform Housing Quality Standards (including Lead-Based paint compliance) inspections Identify owner or participant responsibility for repairs Recommend appropriate corrective action for inspection deficiencies and communicate findings to owner and tenant Supply inspection clerk with information pertaining to Abatements for data entry and processing Complete inspection reports for each subsidized unit Ensure Housing Specialists have complete inspection booklet for file maintenance Provide general program information to the public Work with Rental Analysis regarding Rent Comparables Interpret and implement HUD regulations and guidelines Review data and finding to generate report on inspection of property Provide trending and data to HQS supervisor Provide monthly report to supervisor Ensure accurate tracking of failed inspections Prepare inspection logs and logistics Maintain all required records and prepare all required reports utilizing/accessing same records All additional duties as assigned by supervisor Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Possess sensitivity to persons from culturally diverse backgrounds, persons with special needs and the homeless Ability to study information and HQS regulations so as to determine, define, and comprehend its elements, including conducting of intake interviews to identify the actual physical certification needs of clients Knowledge of the Housing Choice Voucher Program requirements, policies and procedures Possess strong customer service skills Interpret, apply and enforce the laws and regulations pertaining to housing programs Ability to interview effectively Must maintain effective working relationships with staff, representatives of local government, program participants, community-based organizations and the public Be able to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to effectively perform with constant interruption Ability to effectively complete reports, maintain documentation, and accurately complete required forms Ability to operate necessary office equipment, computers and peripherals Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations Proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and be able to create and manipulate such documents Must have ability to safeguard confidential and sensitive information Ability to determine a solution and what method to follow based upon the transaction that needs to be completed Exercise sound and ethical judgment when acting on behalf of the organization Qualification: Experience must include direct contact with the public Experience working with a diverse clientele One (1) year of experience working with the public in a Housing Choice Voucher Program, low-income housing or similar field Bachelors degree or additional three (3) years equivalent experience performing housing related inspections or fieldwork Training: Certification by CVR in the Housing Choice Voucher Proficiency within 90 days of hire. Requirements

  • Experience must include direct contact with the public
