The Inspector will promote a safe working environment and adhere to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers. They will have the immediate responsibility to assure that finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations. The Inspector will be responsible for finding classification of typical defects encountered, including critical defects that may cause failure of the package, major defects that may cause handling or performance problems, and minor defects that are aesthetically objectionable but will not cause package failure. The Inspector will alert the Operator to all defects so that they can be addressed and will verify that packaging parameters are being met according to the specifications sheet. Additionally, the Inspector will perform any required rework safely and maintain a clean work area, including cleaning the entire line area when a line goes down. They will promote a teamwork atmosphere by assisting in various tasks such as housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated materials, and performing rework. The Inspector will also assist the Operator in grinding bottles during machine startup, clear jams, and assist the Maintenance department with housekeeping around machines that are down for planned maintenance. They will evaluate and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment, inspect work areas for unsafe acts or conditions, and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. All duties must be performed in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
