About The Position

At General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, employees are dedicated to excellence that meet the needs of the warfighters and customers around the world. This role provides technical support to the quality and quality engineering (QE) functions. It involves conducting quality control (QC) inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc., at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards. The technician will capture and analyze statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards, and may recommend new or enhanced methods, procedures and standards. The role requires basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process, working within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods, adhering to quality guidelines, and performing tasks with close supervision.

Requirements

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Technical expertise.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to interpret prints, schematics, and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repetitive and routine inspections, checks, tests and sampling procedures of standard parts, units, equipment, or materials
  • Performs inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements.
  • Reworks or rejects subassemblies or finished products as required.
  • Performs audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.
  • Accurately documents the results of the inspections and testing.
  • Coordinates calibration of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Assists in the writing and updating of inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.
  • Requires ability to interpret prints, schematics, and drawings.
