About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for maintaining high occupancy levels for the Section 8 and Housing Quality Standards inspections as required for all properties under the Section 8 Program. Related tasks include interviewing applicants, processing applications, maintaining inspection logs, and entering information into the Yardi system. Duties include typing, data entry, filing, and report preparation. Requires the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with exhibited follow-through and initiative. Reports to the S8 Lease/Admission Coordinator. Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Receive and Process Stop payments for URP/HAP.  Receive all returned checks to contact.  Relieve the front desk receptionist in the absence of receptionist Process request for rent changes. Maintain and update tenant files and archive files; Purge files of inactive and rejected applicants. Process end of participation files. Address calls from landlords and tenants pertaining to inspections issues. Represent the Authority in all termination hearings regarding participant failure to adhere to program responsibilities involving damage claims, failure to maintain tenant-provided utilities, and damage to the unit as discovered during annual, special, or quality control inspections. Maintain high occupancy level for Section 8 Rental Assistance caseload.  Contact applicants and certify eligibility for program recipients according to federal and local program guidelines and MHA procedures.  Brief eligible applicants on housing program requirements, regulations, and responsibilities.   Brief voucher holders on housing availability, housing options, lease obligations, equal rights, and program requirements.   Responsible for processing all eligible applicants from initial application to admission into the rental assistance program. Perform tasks to facilitate the daily operational functions of the Section 8 program. Assist Lease/Admissions Coordinator with daily communications with landlords. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with one to two years of experience in general office and public contact work, preferably in the housing or social service field; or equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license, proof of personal auto insurance, and a driving record acceptable to the Authority’s insurance carrier.
  • Must be available to work overtime as business dictates.
