About The Position

The Inspection & Packaging Operator is responsible for performing visual inspections and packaging tasks within a manufacturing or production setting. This role involves cleaning rooms and equipment, inspecting finished products, identifying and managing product defects, performing labeling, packaging in cartons, shrink-wrapping, and completing paperwork accurately. The operator will also receive comprehensive training in all inspection and packaging functions to ensure high-quality standards are maintained throughout the process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six (6) months related experience in production, inspection, and packaging, or related field, preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as, but not limited to, safety instructions, standard operating procedures, policies, and manuals. Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively before groups of customers, employees or the organization and auditors
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages. Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access. Ability to quickly adapt and learn new manufacturing software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Complete logs and paperwork to reconcile product and label quantities with packaging batch records before initiating production.
  • Perform labeling, packaging in cartons, and shrink-wrap processes with precision, ensuring correct labeling and placement of products in cartons with inserts.
  • Assist in maintaining department cleanliness on a daily basis.
  • Input metric data into the computer system as necessary to monitor the production process.
  • Participate in the safety spill team after completing specialized training and certification.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Obtain line clearance from quality assurance and prepare products for production.
  • Clean and inspect vials for defects such as glass particles, dirty vials, and improper seals.
  • Conduct audits of inspected vials to ensure process compliance.
  • Categorize and document defective vials during inspection, following proper procedures.
  • Perform media inspections to identify atypical vials.
  • Collect samples of defective vials for laboratory testing.
  • Label chemicals and reagents accurately.
  • Stay updated with all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the job
  • Maintain the ability to stand or sit for extended periods as required by job tasks.
