Summary The Inspection & Packaging Operator is responsible for performing visual inspections and packaging tasks within a manufacturing or production setting. This role involves cleaning rooms and equipment, inspecting finished products, identifying and managing product defects, performing labeling, packaging in cartons, shrink-wrapping, and completing paperwork accurately. The operator will also receive comprehensive training in all inspection and packaging functions to ensure high-quality standards are maintained throughout the process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Six (6) months related experience in production, inspection, and packaging, or related field, preferred
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as, but not limited to, safety instructions, standard operating procedures, policies, and manuals.
• Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively before groups of customers, employees or the organization and auditors
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages.
• Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
• Ability to quickly adapt and learn new manufacturing software systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete logs and paperwork to reconcile product and label quantities with packaging batch records before initiating production.
• Perform labeling, packaging in cartons, and shrink-wrap processes with precision, ensuring correct labeling and placement of products in cartons with inserts.
• Assist in maintaining department cleanliness on a daily basis.
• Input metric data into the computer system as necessary to monitor the production process.
• Participate in the safety spill team after completing specialized training and certification.
• Adhere to safety procedures and cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Obtain line clearance from quality assurance and prepare products for production.
• Clean and inspect vials for defects such as glass particles, dirty vials, and improper seals.
• Conduct audits of inspected vials to ensure process compliance.
• Categorize and document defective vials during inspection, following proper procedures.
• Perform media inspections to identify atypical vials.
• Collect samples of defective vials for laboratory testing.
• Label chemicals and reagents accurately.
• Stay updated with all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the job
• Maintain the ability to stand or sit for extended periods as required by job tasks.
