About the role Job Summary The Tendering Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to sales teams and conducting technical analysis of product configurations to determine customer-specific pricing. This role ensures that proposals are technically accurate and aligned with company standards. This job profile is intended for specialist professionals that apply advanced knowledge of a job area. Required to manage projects / processes independently with limited supervision. Typically coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals. We are looking for a motivated and well-spoken Inside Sales Representative to join our onsite team. The candidate will ensure customers receive the best service possible through effective communication during generation of tenders, and order management and assures all tenders and orders are processed in accordance with company set key performance indicators. They will be responsible for developing new leads, understanding customer needs, analyzing sales data, and offering parts solutions. To be successful you should be able to build rapport with customers while ultimately seeking their satisfaction resulting in converting opportunities to orders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, 2-year associate degree or equivalent Customer Service experience required.
  • 2+ years related experience.
  • Knowledge of pump manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with engineered products and quality principles an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work with internal and external customers under demanding conditions.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word.
  • SAP and Salesforce preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand customer specific requirements on inquiries and purchase orders.
  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and achieve set targets.
  • Able to exercise judgement, diplomacy, and tact in all interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of pump manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with engineered products and quality principles an asset.
  • SAP and Salesforce preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the Sulzer product line, bills of material, and part functionality.
  • Complete technical and commercial training and then apply that knowledge in day-to-day activities.
  • Complete tender follow up on quotations with the object to close as a win. If certain parts are not ordered, seek to understand why, and provide feedback.
  • Understand the customer’s needs and identify opportunity for up-selling complimentary parts and upgraded solutions.
  • Develop quotations for standard, upgraded or complimentary (OEM and third party) parts and present them to customers with an intent to win the order.
  • Inquire about customer installed pumps to identify additional aftermarket part opportunities.
  • Identify customers with declining sales, then work with them to recover that business.
  • Utilize installed base data to locate units and inquiring about the customer’s spare parts usage.
  • Review quote history with specific accounts and try to identify opportunities for upgraded parts.
  • Promote Sulzer capabilities
  • Engage with Sulzer Service Center teams and provide standard spare parts lists for pumps that are in shop for overhaul.
  • Process and manage parts orders through to completion and ensure changes to order are conveyed to appropriate departments.
  • Act as customer liaison for all activities.
  • Ensure expeditious communication with customer on order changes, status updates and problems.
  • Work with accounting to determine payment method for new customers and ensure customer payment process is acceptable to Sulzer accounting practices.
  • Engage internal and external customers regarding Pricing Agreements.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with Sulzer guidelines.
  • Workdays – Monday-Friday and other as required.
  • Keep department manager apprised of current booking and future opportunities.
  • Advise management of changes in current order and tender status.
  • Actively involved with standardization and continuous improvement processes.
  • Maintain quote and order files.
  • Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards
  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and QESH Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
