About The Position

To proactively promote the value of newspaper advertising, both print and online, and to sell advertising for Gazette Media through consistent outbound calling to prospective advertisers. This outbound calling will include contacting existing customers and selling renewals, manage the P4P accounts, as well as calling former customers and non-advertisers to sell new business. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrate a superior level of excellent internal and external customer service. Prepare and deliver consistent outbound calling to prospective advertisers. Perform basic sales techniques, utilizing market research information, sales tools, product knowledge, improved telephone solicitation procedures, call-out programs, and sales objectives. Implement and coordinate accurate and timely communication procedures with other stakeholders to ensure customer problems and needs are resolved to the customer’s satisfaction. Comply with company policies and procedures, standards of acceptability, and call center regulations and legislation. Actively participate and support departmental goals and objectives. Collaborate with sales manager to exchange ideas on the implementation of sales initiatives. Assist with special projects. Attend all applicable meetings and trainings. Meet established monthly revenue and account development goals. Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • Typically requires six months to one year of experience in an outbound call center environment.
  • Able to read, write, clearly speak and understand English.
  • Able to sit viewing a computer screen, speaking clearly and concisely via telephone, for long periods of time during an eight hour work shift.
  • Ability to work in a windows-based and web-enabled desktop environment.
  • Ability to read account information on a computer screen.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic math activities; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly, simply, and accurately using proper business tone, grammar and punctuation.
  • Quantitative ability to read and comprehend account information and account management software.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to handle all types of customers including those who might be irate or irrational providing excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to gain acceptance of an idea, plan, service, or product from prospects, existing customers, and teammates.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information concerning customers accounts.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential duties as assigned.
