About The Position

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for processing customer quotes and orders, including product selection, configuration support, and coordination of order fulfillment. This role requires a solid understanding of products and applications to interpret specifications, recommend appropriate solutions, and ensure alignment with customer needs. The Inside Sales Representative communicates with customers, vendors, Outside Sales, and internal departments via phone, email, and digital systems, while utilizing CRM and ERP tools to manage account data and transaction workflows. This role partners closely with Outside Sales to support a defined group of accounts, providing both responsive service and knowledgeable product support.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent training in an industrial, technical, or related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of industrial products, components, or automation systems strongly preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret basic product specifications, part numbers, and datasheets
  • Experience with CRM and ERP systems; ability to manage and maintain accurate data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong typing and data entry skills with attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain product-related information clearly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of learning new products and systems quickly
  • Ability to read and comprehend documentation in English
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license with acceptable MVR

Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer requirements, specifications, and application details to generate accurate price quotations and product selections.
  • Process purchase orders, order changes, and cancellations while ensuring accuracy and completeness across CRM/ERP systems.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records in CRM, including customer requirements, product preferences, pricing, and account information.
  • Provide order confirmations with validated part numbers, configurations, lead times, and shipping details.
  • Recommend alternative products or solutions based on application fit, availability, and cost considerations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, vendors, and internal teams to clarify product questions and resolve application-related issues.
  • Monitor open orders and proactively identify risks related to delivery timelines, specifications, or product availability.
  • Utilize internal systems and reporting tools to track order status, backlog, and customer activity.
  • Prepare and deliver formal quotes with complete product, pricing, and delivery information within defined response time expectations.
  • Coordinate with shipping and receiving to ensure proper handling of configured or non-standard products.
  • Review and validate customer credit and order requirements in coordination with accounting for expedited or complex orders.
  • Participate in vendor training and product education to build and maintain strong product and application knowledge.
  • Assist customers with basic troubleshooting, product questions, and compatibility inquiries.
  • Process repairs, returns, and credits with accurate documentation and within defined timelines.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling by understanding customer applications and product usage.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to resolve customer challenges and escalate more complex issues as needed.
  • Maintain professional, knowledgeable communication with customers, including handling difficult or time-sensitive situations.
  • Support Outside Sales through quote development, product selection assistance, and application insight.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to support discussions and strengthen relationships.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
