About The Position

The Inside Sales Representative with VMI is responsible for selling industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, power and hand tools, paint, and other supplies to customers. This role involves advising customers on the necessary tools, hardware, and materials needed to complete their tasks. The representative may assist with customer deliveries using company vehicles and is expected to adhere to company policies, including safety and the use of personal protective equipment. The position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff. Responsibilities include order entry, processing payments, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring all administrative procedures are followed. The representative will also coordinate the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) program, monitor customer usage, and perform first-level repairs on VMI equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two to five years of experience in industrial retail, inside sales, customer service, or inventory control.
  • Experience with SAP or similar software systems.
  • Intermediate skills in operating a computer using Google Platform.
  • At least one year of knowledge and experience in arc and gas welding.
  • Valid driver's license and excellent driving skills.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, power and hand tools, paint, and other supplies.
  • Advise customers on tools, hardware, and materials needed for their tasks.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately, including coding, costing, and pricing.
  • Process cash and charge orders and assist with reconciliation of cash and bank deposits.
  • Communicate with customers, sales staff, and store managers regarding cost, ordering, and delivery times.
  • Develop outgoing call strategies to support sales growth.
  • Coordinate internal transfers of products requested by customers.
  • Answer customer questions about location, price, and use of merchandise.
  • Prepare invoices and accept payments.
  • Visit customer sites for surveys before product delivery.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • Coordinate with purchasing department regarding product shortages.
  • Stock shelves and maintain showroom displays.
  • Conduct and coordinate area customer VMI program.
  • Monitor customer usage and suggest adjustments to product levels.
  • Maintain VMI system by cleaning and organizing bins.
  • Perform first-level repair and troubleshooting of VMI equipment.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment in compliance with safety policies.
