About The Position

We’re looking for an Inside Sales Estimator to support project proposals, pricing, and customer relationships through organized, detail-oriented estimating and quoting. This role is essential to building accurate, competitive bids and ensuring smooth collaboration between sales, operations, vendors, and technical teams. You’ll play a central role in developing professional proposals that drive customer satisfaction and business success.   This role is ideally suited for candidates based in the Central or Mountain Time zones.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of inside sales or estimating experience, preferably in utilities or construction
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as Zoho
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer applications
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex information clearly
  • Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20% across the continental U.S.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field (business degree considered with equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of electrical testing and maintenance practices
  • Prior experience in the power/utility industry
  • Familiarity with municipal or federal bid processes
  • Experience coordinating with subcontractors and external vendors

Responsibilities

  • Review RFQs, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materials using established methods
  • Identify missing information and coordinate with Sales, Operations, and vendors to gather inputs
  • Manage RFIs and vendor RFQs, incorporating responses into estimates and proposals
  • Develop professional proposal packages, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistent formatting
  • Support the development of standardized templates, pricing tools, and estimating best practices
  • Coordinate with Procurement to obtain supplier pricing and lead times
  • Monitor market trends in labor, materials, and equipment costs to ensure competitive pricing
  • Participate in sales and operations meetings to align estimating activities with business goals
  • Assist Regional Sales Managers with client presentations and proposal clarifications
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and contractual obligations in proposals
  • Coordinate required sales support documentation (COIs, safety data, resumes, bid forms, bid bonds, etc.)
  • Collaborate with leadership to finalize pricing strategies and obtain approvals
  • Submit proposals and maintain accurate records in CRM (Zoho) and SharePoint
  • Provide a smooth project handoff to Operations for awarded projects
  • Maintain customer relationships and support prospecting efforts to grow accounts
