Depending on level of experience, under general to minimal supervision, reviews purchase orders, ensures sales orders conform to purchase orders, engineering specifications, and quality standards; provides prices and delivery date in response to phone and email inquiries; and performs related duties as required.

  • Handles customer phone inquiries regarding product price and delivery, oral, and written orders
  • Provide quotation and ordering assistance to customers and sales representatives
  • Working closely with all manufacturers the company represents
  • Obtains technical information from our manufacturer’s websites and web portals
  • Reviews purchase orders for price and other requirements
  • Requests new and revised engineering drawing specifications as necessary
  • Expedites existing orders and updates delivery information
  • Interacts with other departments such as Engineering, Production Control and Purchasing regarding the status of customer orders
  • Handles phone inquiries from other internal offices regarding pricing and delivery
  • Provides requested catalogs and product specifications
  • Assists other internal personnel with information related to special shipping documents
  • Sets up sales order files
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience and training in computer order entry, inside sales practices and procedures, preferably within a manufacturing environment; considerable telephone sales and order entry experience.
  • Familiarity and experience working with ERP systems such as SyteLine and cloud-based document sharing systems, such as SharePoint.
  • Typing skills of 35-50+ wpm required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Skilled in operation of computer hardware, office equipment and software applications functions involving sales and order entry work
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, engineer­ing drawings, bills of materials, and test reports
  • Ability to read and interpret purchase orders and product specifications
  • Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others including co-workers and customers
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to organize and complete assigned work as scheduled
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, and carry literature, materials, pilot controls and small valves weighing 50 pounds or less
  • Able to perform data input for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment, as applicable
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors where temperature is moderate and controlled by office environment systems
  • Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for majority of the workday; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the workday. Length of time performing these physical requirements may vary from day to day and task to task
  • Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined
