Basic Job Functions:Nucor Steel Berkeley is seeking qualified applicants for an Inside Sales Associate and Sales Assistant. The successful candidate will learn all aspects of the Sales Assistant responsibilities, manage customer accounts, and facilitate the acceptance and processing of customer claims for both quality and accounts receivable. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, answering incoming phone calls for the Commercial Department, generating daily/weekly sales and marketing reports, setting up customer visits, and serving as a primary backup for any of the Inside Sales staff positions as needed. Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime. The role requires versatility in handling customer service needs, sales support, and claims management, contributing to the overall success of the commercial team. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (Business, Marketing, or related study)

Nice To Haves

  • 4- year degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing process, product characteristics and customer base
  • Knowledge of basic accounting
  • Comprehension of inventory control

Responsibilities

  • Providing responsive service and building strong customer relationships with an emphasis on commercial excellence.
  • Entering accurate orders, proactively solving problems, and ensuring effective communication between customers and internal teams (operations, shipping, credit, metallurgy).
  • Coordinating efforts to resolve claims with customers, metallurgists, sales, and accounts receivable teams. Working with field claim buyers to resell claimed material while maximizing profitability.
  • Managing inventory levels and collaborating with the scheduler to ensure efficient production.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for customers and handling various aspects of customer accounts. Assisting in all functions of customer service as needed, including providing support to other commercial team members when required.
