About The Position

The Inside Plant (ISP) Engineer I is responsible for assisting ISP personnel with troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of network elements and connections that support Charter's revenue-generating networks. This role involves providing enterprise-wide tiered support on converged distribution and access network elements, ensuring high-quality delivery of programming, and maintaining compliance with technical standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum four years of Headend Technician or electronics/network implementation experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and safe driving record.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Valid Certifications from SCTE BFTS and BDS required within 6 months of employment.
  • Advanced knowledge of RF and IP technologies, HFC design, and optical test equipment.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Video Networking, IP, and DOCSIS.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in differentiating wire sizes and colors for cable connections.
  • Capability to safely use weight-bearing equipment like ladders.
  • Competency in measuring distances and reading system layouts from blueprints.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ISP personnel with troubleshooting and maintenance of network elements.
  • Deliver high-quality off-air, satellite, microwave, and digital transport programming.
  • Transact Technical Quality Assurance (TQA) inspections for HE and facilities.
  • Troubleshoot communication architectures, hardware, software, and transmission links.
  • Setup and operate legacy headend equipment such as signal processors and modulators.
  • Perform analog and digital channel level measurement and quality testing.
  • Install and maintain emergency alert systems and document testing.
  • Maintain logs and records in compliance with company and FCC requirements.
  • Support protocol compatibility standards and implement network enhancements.
  • Work on projects of moderate complexity surrounding network planning and optimization.
  • Actively support efforts to enhance customer experience.
  • Execute network problem resolution and perform HE Proof of Performance Tests.
