About The Position

Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat! This position supports the Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT) as the Inside Machinist. The selected candidate will plan and execute the production of high-precision metal parts by interpreting blueprints and operating manual or CNC machinery. This role requires mastery of diverse machine tools and precision measuring instruments to ensure all components meet exact technical specifications. This is a full-time position, located in Norfolk, VA.

Requirements

High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.
Must have experience working in a team environment.
Must be proficient in the use and reading of various measurement devices including but not limited to rulers and scales, micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.
Must have experience using various power tools and hand tools to accomplish tasks including the proper use of torque wrenches to tighten fasteners according to specifications described in technical documentation.
Must be experienced using conventional laths and milling machines.
Must be experienced in reading, interpreting and following blueprints, technical drawings and/or technical manuals.
Must have knowledge of safety and quality control steps and procedures.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance, and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date, and maintain credentials throughout employment.
Must be able to provide hand tools per trades designation.

Nice To Haves

Candidates who hold a current or active DoD Secret clearance or higher preferred.
Experience installing, maintaining and repairing marine structural and mechanical systems and associated equipment for naval vessels in accordance with technical documentation and naval standards.
