The Inside Electrical Apprentice position at Steele Electric is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the electrical field under the supervision of a Journeyman electrician. The role involves learning and performing various electrical tasks, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

  • Support the Steele Electric team under the supervision of a Journeyman electrician.
  • Read, interpret, and execute drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications.
  • Test electrical equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Install, repair, or replace AC/DC motors and drives, transformers, motors, starters, relays, and electrical controls.
  • Install, repair, or replace electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting, and alternative electrical parts.
  • Install, repair, or replace generators and industrial storage batteries.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems, including power distribution equipment.
  • Install electrical circuits, panels, conduit, protecting devices, switches, and equipment according to NEC.
  • Work on electrical failures and replace components as needed.
  • Correct connections and wiring on equipment controls to prevent harm and dangerous conditions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
  • Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices as required.
  • Comply with industry standards, safety manuals, and safety rules.
  • Dig trenches for running underground electrical pipe (conduit).
  • Load and unload equipment and materials.
  • Pull wire and install electrical devices.
  • Install lights and lighting controls per NEC and energy codes.
  • Learn to bend conduit and install it as needed.
  • Assist the journeyman with material handling and task completion.
  • Clean up the work area at the end of the day.
  • Must be part of Area I JACT Apprenticeship Program.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Customer Service skills
