About The Position

As a Desk Property Adjuster at USAA, you will play a crucial role in investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling moderate to complex property insurance claims for U.S. military members and their families. This position requires strong virtual estimating skills and the ability to work in a call center environment, handling a high volume of claims while ensuring compliance with state regulations. The role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence three days a week, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to facilitate claims resolution.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • 1 year of customer service, military leadership, construction related industry/insurance experience, or experience handling low complexity property claims.
  • Knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of claims contracts and application of case law and state laws.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task across multiple business applications.
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in handling higher complexity claims.
  • Familiarity with virtual inspection tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned claims caseload with low to moderate complexity damages.
  • Partner with vendors and internal business partners for claims resolution.
  • Conduct research to investigate claim damages from various sources.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies and subrogation potential.
  • Determine coverage through analysis of investigation information.
  • Negotiate claims settlements for low to moderate complexity claims.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough claim file documentation.
  • Apply knowledge of estimating technology platforms for claims estimates.
  • Recognize jurisdictional challenges and address them appropriately.
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations as needed.
