About The Position

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center , an Inpatient Wound Care RN plays a critical role in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with complex wounds. This includes pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, and other skin integrity issues. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal healing and prevent complications.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing.
  • Valid RN license in the state of Connecticut.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN), as it is required for certification.
  • Ideal candidates will have 3 or more years of wound care nursing experience in an inpatient acute hospital setting.
  • Wound care certification (e.g., WCC®)
  • BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) — certification support available post-hire.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based wound care protocols and pressure injury prevention strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patient wounds to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Perform wound care procedures, including cleaning, dressing, and debridement.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
