About The Position

Inpatient Veterinary Technician Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency (CASE) in Boulder, CO, is a leading provider of specialty and 24-hour emergency veterinary services in Boulder. Our state-of-the-art, 27,000 sq ft hospital is staffed by experienced medical professionals, including board-certified specialists who are dedicated to delivering the highest level of compassionate veterinary care. We are currently seeking an Inpatient Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology team!

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with at least 1 year of experience
  • At least 1 year of experience within a specialty veterinary hospital preferred, preferably within the Oncology department
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures and terminology
  • Ability to communicate well with other CASE staff members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
  • Ability to work independently and with little or no supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and produce quality work while making effective decisions

Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in obtaining patient medical history, TPR's, and noting changes in trends in the patient
  • Proficiency in admitting and discharging patients within the entire Oncology service
  • Demonstrate exceptional client communication and education as well as assistance with scheduling appointments, procedures, and advanced imaging
  • Demonstrates competency in calculating medication and drug doses
  • Proficient in obtaining diagnostics related to radiation oncology consultations including bloodwork, radiographs, advanced imaging
  • Practices proper and safe patient restraint of the oncology patient
  • Proficient in performing general venipuncture, peripheral catheter placement and maintenance
  • Profound knowledge of disease processes and treatment options
  • Demonstrates excellent patient care skills
  • Proficient in Ezyvet and Smart Flow to administer and document treatments, medical notes, and creating/adding to patient plans when needed for Radiation Oncology patients
  • Implement prescribed sedation plans for pre-anesthesia as instructed by the anesthetist, including monitoring during sedation
  • Proficient in anesthesia recovery up to ASA Level 5
  • Proficiency in setting up and troubleshooting monitoring equipment
  • Assists and is a backup to the Radiation Oncology Client Care Associate, the Oncology team, and the ICU/Triage team
