About The Position

Dayton Children’s Hospital is a freestanding, independent, Level I trauma center children’s hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Dayton Children’s serves a pediatric population from a 20-county region of central and southwestern Ohio and eastern Indiana. Dayton Children's Hospital has been recognized as a 2025-2026 Best Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report in three specialties: NICU, orthopedics, and mental health. Department Specific Job Details: Department Specific Job Details: Dayton Children’s Hospital is currently recruiting a child and adolescent psychiatrist (0.8 FTE physician position, 10-month contract) for our mental health unit and consult service. This is a full time, employed position with competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. This is a new opportunity for staffing the new free-standing behavioral health building. This building will allow the hospital to double the number of behavioral health inpatient beds currently available at Dayton Children’s, allow expansion for specialized program development and allow for strengthened and smoother continuity of care by bringing behavioral health inpatient, outpatient and crisis services all under one roof. Requirements

  • Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-up medication management in consult and inpatient setting.
  • Supervise psychiatric residents and child psychiatry fellows from Wright State University
  • Provide weekend coverage to inpatient psychiatric unit: every 6-8 weeks.
  • Provide night call for psychiatric service 3-5 nights per month
