Work Location: Belmont Hours of Operation: M-F 6:30a-11p, Weekends/Holidays: 8a-8:30p Schedule: Rotating Hours: Primarily M-F, excluding holidays, DAY SHIFT between 6:30a-5p. 8 hour shifts, start times vary between 6:30a-8:30a. Occasional weekend/holidays based on availability. Request that FT staff provide availability to work at least 1-2 weekend shifts per month. Job Summary Summary Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, follows established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine support tasks that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department. Tasks include, but are not limited to, preparing and distributing unit-dose medications, outpatient prescriptions, and stock orders, while maintaining the safe handling and integrity of medications. Tasks may also include responsibilities related to technical training and participation in departmental projects. Staffing assignments will include roles throughout the central pharmacy and designated specialized pharmacy areas. Does this position require Patient Care? No

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Pharmacy Technician [State License] required
• Technician Certification [CPhT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required
• 1-2 years required
• Perform intermediate mathematical calculations associated with preparing non-sterile, extemporaneously manufactured pharmaceutical products and other medication doses.
• Follow all applicable state and federal controlled substance regulations.
• Continuously improve skills necessary for area-specific technology, including, but not limited to, robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems.
• Read, interpret, and follow complex verbal and written instructions to prepare medications accurately in a sterile environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospital-related experience, formal training, or certification from a pharmacy technician training program is desired

Responsibilities

• Perform all required pharmaceutical dosage calculations necessary to prepare extemporaneous dosage forms, as applicable, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Adhere to safety requirements for handling non-hazardous medications in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
• May prepare compounded sterile products using principles of aseptic technique; distribute and transport controlled substances under appropriate state controls; or maintain code cart inventory. Responsibilities are unit-specific.
• Assist with the training of Pharmacy Technician Trainees.
• Demonstrate familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.
