About The Position

The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician position at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital involves working part-time on the 2nd shift, with a focus on the dispensing and delivery of medications. The role requires developing competence in various pharmacy procedures, including the use of information systems and technology for medication management. The technician will also be responsible for preparing non-sterile products, entering medication orders, managing phone calls from healthcare professionals and patients, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student in Illinois.
• Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire.
• High School Graduate.
• Good mathematics skills.
• Attention to details.
• Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications.
• Develops competence in preparing non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations.
• Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and/or processing medication requests.
• Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members.
• Develops competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation as required.
• Complies with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
