About The Position

The Inpatient/Outpatient Social Worker (LCSW or LMSW) position at University Health involves providing social work services to patients and residents in various care settings, including acute, ambulatory, and long-term care. The role includes identifying psychosocial needs, conducting psychosocial assessments, pre-admission screening, discharge planning, crisis intervention, and patient education. The social worker will function as part of a multidisciplinary team and may also assist with program development, evaluation, and supervision of students and BSW staff.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited school.
  • Current State of Missouri License as a Licensed Social Worker (LCSW) or eligibility for LMSW.
  • Two years post-graduate clinical experience for LCSW.
  • Knowledge of social work theory and practice at the MSW level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals and culturally diverse patients.
  • If driving is required, must meet Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy requirements.
  • Previous experience in health or mental health care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide social work services to patients/residents in acute, ambulatory, or long-term care settings.
  • Identify psychosocial needs and conduct psychosocial assessments.
  • Perform pre-admission screening and admitting services for long-term care patients.
  • Plan and coordinate discharge for patients.
  • Provide crisis intervention and information/referral services.
  • Educate patients/residents and their families.
  • Collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary team for patient/resident care.
  • Assist with program development and evaluation.
  • Provide professional education and supervision of students and BSW staff.
