About The Position

Are you currently a junior in high school? Are you considering Nursing as a future career? Apply today to gain valuable experience during your senior year! The co-op program is an educational and clinical work experience for high school students. Students will work 1:1 with a preceptor and perform a wide range of patient care tasks under the nursing support scope. The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide quality care. The position will focus on providing patient care within a clinical scope of practice. Fulfills designated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care (non-assessment). Identifies, observes, and documents the physical needs of the patient according to standards. Assists with patient transfer and transport as needed. Assists in problem solving, trouble shooting, and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Assists in clerical responsibilities as required for task completion. Suggests issues for improvement and offer solutions on issues. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. The specific statements in this profile are not intended to be all-inclusive. This is a standard job requisition for the Inpatient Nursing Co-op position at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. A resume is required to move forward with application process. High school junior students must apply to this program their junior year to complete the co-op as a senior during the 2026-2027 academic school year. Inpatient Nursing Co-op students must attend a mandatory 2-day orientation (dates will be provided to students upon offer). Co-op hours on the assigned unit will begin in September.
