About The Position

The Physician Assistant or Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with RNFA assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician. Performs the duties and responsibilities of a Physician Assistant according to customary and generally accepted medical standards. Inpatient with rotating weekends. The Neurosurgery Program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center offers the newest treatment options, services and medications for a variety of neurological conditions. Our neurology and neurosurgery care consistently ranks among the best in the state. Jersey Shore University Medical Center is one of 3 locations at Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute that offers focused ultrasound (FUS), a minimally invasive treatment for patients with essential tremor and Parkinson’s disease tremor that has not responded to medications. Our Center for Treatment of Paralysis and Reconstructive Nerve Surgery uses the most advanced treatment options to help restore function in patients who have suffered from stroke, neuropathy, brachial plexus injuries, diaphragm paralysis and other conditions. Jersey Shore University Medical Center will be the only medical center in the northeast to offer ZAP-X®, a radiosurgery, with Synaptive MRI technology. This revolutionary technology treats brain tumors, facial pain and Arteriovenous Malformations or AVMs (irregular connections between arteries and veins) within days and requires no incision and no anesthesia. Requirements

Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms
Physician Assistant License.
National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice.
Experience in a relevant patient care setting (or as regulations dictate).
National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law.
Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
Advance Practice Nurse License.
BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Board certified by AANP or ANCC.

Responsibilities

Provide medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician, consistent with the PA's education, training and experience.
Performs and documents accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments appropriate for the patient's age, gender, and clinical problem.
Orders, performs, and interprets laboratory tests and diagnostic studies/procedures in collaboration with physicians and consultants as appropriate.
Manages general medical and surgical conditions based on comprehensive knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, and the indications and contraindications of pharmacologic agents and other treatment modalities.
Prescribes medication safely and effectively in accordance with best practices, hospital policy, and NJ regulations, providing patient education as needed.
Seeks opportunities to promote Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) PA practice recognition (locally, nationally, and internationally) through conferences, publications, and presentations.
Provides care that is patient- and family-centered, compassionate, and effective for the promotion of health and treatment of disease.
Practices as a healthcare provider according to the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and bylaws as outlined in the delineation of privileges.
Applies evidence-based and value-based medicine to systematically analyze and improve patient care practices and outcomes.
Evaluates patient/family transition of care planning, considering resource utilization, cost, quality, safety and self-management promotion for chronic conditions.
