About The Position

Under the supervision of the LPN, RN, or nurse leader, the Patient Care Tech (PCT) performs patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care activities to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. Through collaborative practice with all members of the care team, is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high quality of care provided by ThedaCare. Contributes to the goals of the department by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate, safe care and demonstrated commitment to continuous growth and professional development. SCHEDULE: (3) 12 hour shifts week one and (2) 12-hour shifts week 2 NIGHT shift (5:30p-6a) Every 3rd weekend is required to work (Fri-Sun) Rotating holiday schedule required UNIT DETAILS (Neuro-Neenah Hospital): The Neuro unit is a 16-19 bed inpatient and intermediate care unit that focuses on strokes, brain surgery, and spine, and is a stepdown to the ICU. Our Neenah hospital is a level II trauma center with a higher acuity patient population. This unit is fast-paced to meet the demands and needs of our patients with a dedicated team that performs with the highest quality of care! Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age required expect for Peabody Manor, The Heritage or Juliette Manor
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Life Support (BLS)
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform patient care procedures
  • Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Performs delegated patient care activities using evidence-based practice and specific competencies for the patient population served.
  • Checks patients’ vital signs, height, and weight, as needed, based on patient type.
  • Provides compassionate care and listens to patients’ concerns and guides them by answering any questions or concerns.
  • Identifies and escalates changes in patient status or patient risks to prevent crisis.
  • Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports to care team.
  • Repositions, transfers, ambulates and transports patients.
  • Assists patients with basic needs (such as hygiene, eating, using the restroom, and dressing).
  • Obtains and reports patient intake and output.
  • Performs electrocardiograms (ECGs) as directed.
  • Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
  • Provides care that is age appropriate, culturally specific, and developmentally appropriate in an environment that promotes patient safety.
  • Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers.
