About The Position

The Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine is looking for a dedicated Inpatient Hospitalist at an open rank to join our team at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, The State University of New Jersey. In this position, the faculty member will predominantly work on the Medical Teaching Service ( MTS ) and GIM Medicine Consult Service. The chosen candidate may also see patients in the perioperative program, anemia clinic, or on the Attending Directed Hospital Services ( ADS ). In addition to providing clinical care, our academic institution in collaboration with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School creates unique opportunities for physicians to engage in clinical and research programs, faculty development, quality improvement activities, and participation in a broad range of teaching initiatives. The Department of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is comprised of approximately 150 paid and more than 300 volunteer faculty members organized into 11 divisions covering the major medical subspecialties: Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases; Cardiovascular Diseases and Hypertension; Education; Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition; Gastroenterology and Hepatology; General Internal Medicine; Hematology; Medical Oncology; Nephrology; Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; and Rheumatology. The Department’s clinical mission encompasses inpatient and ambulatory care settings at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (the primary teaching hospital of the medical school) and at various hospital affiliates and ambulatory care sites throughout the region. Our educational mission is focused on development of the next generation of physicians who will become insightful and caring clinicians, leaders, educators and researchers in the field of medicine. Our ACGME -accredited education programs continue to thrive. We have an outstanding Internal Medicine Residency Program and fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease; Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism; Gastroenterology; Hematology/Oncology; Infectious Disease; Interventional Cardiology; Nephrology; Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine; and Rheumatology.
