Monday through Friday with on call as assigned Position Summary: The Inpatient Hospice and Palliative Medicine Physician (HPMP) is assigned to the Hosparus Inpatient service and is supervised by the Medical Director. The HPMP provides direct patient care for hospice and palliative patients in the inpatient setting assigned. They are also expected to cover night and weekend calls as assigned for hospice and palliative patients. The HPMP supports and coordinates care with the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) including participation in care planning meetings as the Medical Director’s designee and performs other necessary administrative functions, including certifications, recertifications, pre-authorizations and completion of medical forms and death certificates. The HPMP participates in education, outreach and leadership activities when needed and may be assigned additional patient care or administrative duties at the discretion of the Medical Director.

  • Provides direct patient care for hospice and palliative patients in the inpatient setting assigned.
  • Cover night and weekend calls as assigned for hospice and palliative patients.
  • Supports and coordinates care with the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) including participation in care planning meetings as the Medical Director’s designee
  • Performs other necessary administrative functions, including certifications, recertifications, pre-authorizations and completion of medical forms and death certificates.
  • Participates in education, outreach and leadership activities when needed
  • May be assigned additional patient care or administrative duties at the discretion of the Medical Director.
  • M.D. or D.O. required.
  • Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) for medical practice in both KY and IN, including DEA and controlled substance permits, required.
  • Either fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine or a minimum of 2 years of post-residency medical experience required.
  • Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine or Board-eligible with expectation to be certified within 5 years of employment required.
  • Hospice, palliative care, primary care, hospitalist, or geriatric experience preferred.
