About The Position

Provides medication management services in coordination with other health care professionals to deliver safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy to patients. Responsibilities may include assessment of medication therapy regimens, medication therapy management, medication order verification/entry, medication distribution, medication therapy monitoring, and consultation, documentation of medication therapy plans, and medication use education and pharmaceutical care services. Participates in collaborative practice and/or protocol-driven practice as appropriate. Additionally, pharmacists are active members in quality improvement, research activities, and education as described in the job specific competencies. Inpatient pharmacist position will support the ED and ICUs at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN. In this role, the pharmacist provides exceptional care to patients in our intensive care units or emergency medicine department. This pharmacist will be trained in the roles of the critical care and emergency medicine pharmacy teams as well as in the central pharmacy at our St. Marys hospital campus with shifts floated among trained areas based on staffing needs. Focused practice areas may be expanded with upskilling and further training based on needs and individuals' interests.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Previous experience including specialty residency training in emergency medicine or critical care
  • Substantial emergency medicine experience, and/or equivalent experience of 3 years in practice
  • Commitment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail, and teamwork
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organize time well, practice with an agile mindset, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Current pharmacist license by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy, or eligible to obtain within a time frame compliant with the site's applicable employee licensure policy

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement, publications, or scientific presentations in emergency medicine or critical care
  • Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment
  • Experience and/or interest in teaching and/or precepting
  • Board Certification in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care within 12 months of candidate's eligibility
