About The Position

The Inpatient Creative Arts Therapist works collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team using evidence-based practices to design and implement therapeutic sessions tailored to the unique needs of patients of all ages dealing with a wide range of challenges, from developmental disabilities and mental health issues to physical ailments and aging-related conditions. You will provide therapeutic activities that are culturally responsive, age appropriate and based on the assessed needs of the patients served. You will implement therapeutic interventions utilizing cognitive, dialectical behavioral therapy integrating artistic, physical and creative elements to create a holistic therapeutic environment to facilitate the patient's attainment of goals articulated in the patient treatment plans and where patients can improve self-esteem, coping, physical movement, communication and social skills.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a behavioral health related field required or a bachelor’s degree in music therapy with applicable board certification.
  • License and/or Board-Certification preferred in one of the following: Licensed Social Work Associate & Independent Clinical (LSWAIC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA), Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Music Therapist License, ATR-BC, RDT, or BC-DMT
  • Must apply for Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor registration upon hire if not in possession of any other listed license and obtain registration within 90 days of hire
  • One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments and reassessments of patient’s functional, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • Develops and maintains data collection systems to monitor progress.
  • Analyzes data to address ongoing patient needs and recommends program adjustments.
  • Utilizes creative, individualized, evidence-based treatment approaches tailored to patient’ needs.
  • Collaborates on and implements behavior support plans to improve outcomes.
  • Works with clinicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, holistic progress aligned with clinical goals.
  • Maintains open communication with care providers, families, and staff to address progress, and development.
  • Ensures timely and accurate documentation and reports.
  • Provides counseling to individuals and groups using strength-based, empathic, and creative modalities.
