About The Position

The position involves accurately coding inpatient records for the classification of all diseases, injuries, procedures, and operations using the ICD10CM/PCS coding system. The coder ensures compliance with coding rules and regulations as mandated by Regulatory Agencies such as CMS and OIG. The role requires teamwork to meet departmental and accounts receivable goals. Additionally, the coder is responsible for abstracting prescribed data elements from medical records.

Requirements

• High School diploma, Certification, GED, Training, or Experience.
• AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist certification.
• AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician certification.
• Required coding certificate upon hire or obtain within 2 years (except for BRRH employees).
• Knowledge of encoder system, Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), DRG/MSDRGs, and National and Local Coverage Determination policies.
• Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Effective communication skills with coworkers, management, and physicians.

Nice To Haves

• CCS, CCA, CPC, COC, RHIT, or RHIA certification for Boca employees.

Responsibilities
