About The Position

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a permanent evening Clinical Pharmacist for its Inpatient Pharmacy in Williamsburg, VA. This is a Full Time (40 hrs/wk) position with evening hours (Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-11pm), with no weekends or holidays, though hours may vary for occasional coverage. The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible and accountable for providing safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services. This role involves participating in all necessary aspects of the medication-use system and delivering comprehensive, individualized pharmaceutical care to patients in assigned areas. The pharmacist is expected to work competently and independently in various areas of pharmacy practice, manage patient drug therapy according to clinical practice standards, and ensure the appropriateness of all provider medication orders to maintain high patient care and safety. They must stay current with medication use and disease states relevant to their practice, serve as a primary resource for drug information and education, and provide in-depth patient counseling when necessary. The role also includes training new employees, taking local responsibility for assigned tasks, consistently following policies and procedures, and continuously seeking additional training and staying informed about new information. Superior customer service, effective communication, decision-making, and organization are essential for efficient job performance. The pharmacist will also ensure adequate supplies for patient care, triage and escalate issues outside their scope, use appropriate systems for patient information processing, maintain quality assurance, operate pharmacy equipment, and precept pharmacy students.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Level Degree in Pharmacy
  • Virginia Pharmacist License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate Level Degree in Pharmacy
  • Previous Clinical Experience

Responsibilities

  • Provision of safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services
