The Charge Nurse position is an experienced professional who demonstrates clinical, leadership, and interpersonal skill proficiency. The Charge Nurse facilitates and supports the clinical and operational needs of individual inpatient care areas in partnership with management. UVA Health's Acute General Medicine units provide high-quality, patient-centered care for adults with a variety of acute medical conditions, including respiratory, endocrine, infectious disease, renal, gastrointestinal, and select cardiology cases. Our teams care for higher-acuity patients which allows team members to learn to manage complex co-morbidities that require strong clinical judgment and adaptability. Our five units include 3 East (25 beds), 3 Central (27 beds), 3 West (26 beds), 3 North (12 beds), and 4 Central (17 beds). What sets our Acute General Care units apart is a collaborative and supportive environment where nurses work closely with an interdisciplinary team, a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio ensuring manageable workloads and high-quality care, and a free-floating charge nurse every shift providing additional support and leadership.
