Inpatient Cert Diabetes Educator (40 hrs)(Temple Health)
About The Position
The inpatient diabetes educator provides timely and targeted education and support services to patients and support system. Bridges the gap between clinical care and self-mgmt. Delivering survival skills education, ensures a smooth transition from inpatient to outpatient. A subject matter expert in diabetes and technology, offers guidance to medical staff and participates in regular and ad-hoc education initiatives. Works collaboratively with interprofessional teams. Facilitates monthly diabetes support group. Credentialing as Diabetes Care and Education Specialist required within 1 year of hire. Must maintain 15 diabetes related CEU credits per year and active registration and licensure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Science in Nursing, Nutrition, or a related healthcare or life sciences field Required
- 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse or Dietitian Required
- General Experience working with a diverse patient population Required
- PA Dietitian -Nutritionist Required or
- PA Registered Nurse License Required
- Cert Diabetes Care and Ed Spec Required
- Credentialing as Diabetes Care and Education Specialist required within 1 year of hire.
- Must maintain 15 diabetes related CEU credits per year and active registration and licensure.
Nice To Haves
- 3 years experience in Diabetes self-management education and support experience Preferred
- 1 year experience in an acute care setting Preferred
