JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE Management, budgeting and supervision of Medical/Surgical/SCU, Staffing coordinator, Patient Education/Transition Nurse/ Diabetic Education, Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 3 years leadership experience OR minimum of 5 years leadership experience in the discipline OR Master’s Degree and no experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Vice President of Patient Services and providers in formulating departmental goals and designing, implementing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating nursing care and delivery of services in designated departments.
  • Coordinates activities intra-departmentally and inter-departmentally with other service areas of the organization.
  • Manages personnel in the most effective and cost-efficient manner. Responsible for the recruitment, selection, transfer, training, scheduling and performance management.
  • Is visible and actively participates in the development of staff.
  • Provides regular education and in service to staff.
  • Provides supervision of Diabetic Education, Patient Education/Transition Nurse and Staffing Coordinator.
  • Supports, enforces and positively models the principles of MercyOne’s Core Values and Actions. Responsible for established departmental budgets to achieve stated goals.
  • Plans, directs, and monitors quality management activities in assigned departments to identify, study and address nursing care challenges. Accountable for achievement of quality, service, people, finance and growth goals.
  • Takes appropriate independent action, addresses issues proactively, engages in problem solving, generates new ideas and solutions, seeks out new responsibilities and acts on opportunities for self development.
  • Coordinates preparation efforts for regulatory surveys.
  • Other duties assigned by management.
