About The Position

This role supports the Grid Automation Strategy Office by leading the development and execution of inorganic growth strategy grounded in product roadmaps, market intelligence, and technical insight. Grid Automation is in the midst of a significant strategic transformation, and this position offers a unique opportunity to shape the direction and maturity of the strategy function. The successful candidate will own the frameworks, analyses, and processes used to identify strategic adjacencies, capability gaps, and external opportunities across the portfolio. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in energy systems and demonstrated experience generating high-quality insights that enable the Strategy Office Director and senior leadership to assess, prioritize, and advance inorganic pathways. As the primary owner of inorganic strategy within the Strategy Office, this role will translate market, competitive, and regulatory signals into clear opportunity theses and actionable recommendations. Working closely with Product Line teams and Corporate M&A, the Leader will provide the analytical foundation for evaluating roadmap-aligned acquisitions, investments, and partnerships. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping how Grid Automation evolves its strategy during a pivotal period of change.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in the electric utility, grid technology, or broader energy sector, including 5+ years in roles with leadership responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Build a deep understanding of the current Grid Automation portfolio and product roadmaps, including protection, control, automation, digital substation, and edge technologies.
  • Lead the identification of roadmap gaps, adjacencies, and future capability needs that could be accelerated through acquisitions, partnerships, investments, or technology integrations in collaboration with Product Line Leaders and CTO Organization
  • Own the creation of inorganic growth theses, ensuring alignment with product-line strategy, system architecture evolution, and market and competitive trends.
  • Independently drive structured market and technology scans to surface high-potential targets aligned with roadmap-based priorities.
  • Own strategic-fit assessments, leveraging CTO and Product Line Leaders to evaluate technical feasibility, integration complexity, ecosystem impact, and commercial value.
  • Lead collaborative sessions with Product Line leaders to validate where external innovation can complement or accelerate organic development plans.
  • Act as the primary strategy counterpart to Corporate M&A, progressing high-potential opportunities with market sizing, synergy hypotheses, and early diligence analysis.
  • Drive target profiling and adjacency mapping across grid technologies, communication infrastructure, power electronics, controls, sensors, and related domains.
  • Develop and own roadmap-informed inorganic proposals in collaboration with Product Line leaders, clearly articulating value, risks, integration pathways, and strategic rationale for leadership.
  • Provide authoritative analytical inputs for go/no-go decisions on acquisitions, partnerships, and investments, ensuring recommendations reflect both strategic intent and product realities.
