About The Position

The ISI internship is an opportunity for a student with expertise in sensory studies to apply their academic skills to inform decision making for Nestle Health Science's innovation and renovation projects. As an intern, you will lead a project focused on enhancing one of our fundamental sensory methodologies, such as similarity testing or sensory panel performance. Furthermore, you will have the chance to actively contribute to multiple projects that involve the application of various sensory and consumer science methodologies.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. candidates in Food Science with a Sensory and/or Consumer emphasis preferred.
  • B.S. students with strong sensory evaluation skills will be considered.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of the utilization of Sensory Software
  • Basic univariate and multivariate statistical analysis training
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to self-manage, juggle multiple priorities, and pay attention to details
  • Self-starters who are result-oriented, analytical, innovative, intellectually curious and who take initiative and risks.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on a project focused on enhancing a sensory tool utilized by scientists within the department. The specific project will be identified based on need closer to the start of the internship.
  • Support in the execution, coordination and facilitation of a variety of sensory and consumer studies in collaboration with other scientists in the department
  • Support the documentation and development of protocols for Sensory tools and methods
  • Collaborate with and function as a part of the Sensory team to support and/or lead appropriate testing including the design, planning, set-up, data analysis and reporting phases
  • Create study documents: screeners, questionnaires, protocols, test plans
  • Ability to participate in product tastings for a wide variety of product categories.
  • Summarize results from sensory & consumer testing into a report that addresses the objectives of the study.
