About The Position

As an Innovation Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise, project management skills, and engineering leadership to implement new technology solutions and apply systems engineering principles to balance mechanical, electrical, and software components. Your primary mission is to research, design, prototype, and implement the technologies, tools, software, and major system innovations that enhance the effectiveness, safety, automation, and efficiency of EVO’s hydraulic fracturing operations. Responsibilities include R&D, Project management, and the implementation, along with scaling of creative solutions to deficiencies identified through the Evolution Service Quality (EVO SQ) system, executing management-defined high-impact special projects to optimize operations, and establishing standard procedures to ensure consistency across EVO’s fleets. You will play a key role in proposing, championing, and cultivating innovative ideas that reinforce EVO’s position as a leader in hydraulic fracturing technology and services. . Success in this role demands a passion for innovation, exceptional communication, project management skills, and an unrelenting drive to deliver results. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of driving tasks independently with minimal supervision. A strong sense of ownership, combined with the ability to thrive under pressure, is essential for navigating the demands of a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment.

Requirements

  • Successfully passes background checks, pre-employment drug screening, and any prerequisite competency assessments.
  • Possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Daily in-person, predictable attendance.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Candidates with an Associate’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a B.S. degree.
  • Strong engineering foundation with the ability to apply first principles, analytical thinking, and problem-solving to complex technical challenges.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and reporting.
  • Aptitude for data analysis and financial modeling, with the ability to quantify technology impact and return on investment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Highly innovative and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for driving operational excellence.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, digital tools, apps, and other advanced software.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to analyze & determine work task priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork and partnership across departments and external vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the hydraulic fracturing industry or in developing equipment and technology solutions related to hydraulic fracturing is highly preferred.
  • Practical understanding of hydraulic fracturing operations, equipment, and associated technologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, prototype, implement, and optimize engineered technology, equipment, automation, and system solutions that improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of EVO hydraulic fracturing operations.
  • Partner closely with Customer Success Engineers and cross-functional leaders (Operations, Manufacturing, HSE, Asset Integrity, and others) to identify equipment, technology, and process gaps, conduct root-cause analysis, prioritize high-impact opportunities, and deliver corrective actions.
  • Develop clear, field-ready work instructions for new equipment and processes, train field personnel, and implement adherence controls as necessary.
  • Collaborate with EWS engineering, manufacturing team,s and external vendors to engineer and deliver new equipment & technology solutions, including requirements definition, specifications, DFM/DFX, procurement, build oversight, QA/QC, factory/site acceptance testing, and field commissioning of new equipment.
  • Plan and execute technology pilots and field trials, capture voice-of-field feedback, iterate designs, define acceptance criteria, and manage scale-up to full fleet deployment.
  • Drive end-to-end project management for the innovation projects that you are tasked with, including schedules, financial/ROI analyses, and budgets. Maintain risk registers, coordinate resources, and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Establish and maintain robust technical documentation and configuration control, and manage changes through a formal Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging the team to identify and implement major system innovations and adopt new work instructions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity
