Every winter, the inn closes for the holidays. Your team gets three weeks of paid time off. That's where we'll start. This isn't a hotel job. It's closer to being the person who makes the house feel like home — welcoming guests like they're staying at a friend's beautiful historic home, making breakfast, baking pastries, keeping things right, and knowing the neighborhood well enough to send people off in the right direction. We rely on good systems and clear processes so the day feels calm, not frantic — just solid hosting. If that sounds like work you'd be good at, keep reading. If you're looking for a quiet desk job, this one's probably not it. A typical daytime shift (7:30am–3:30pm) moves. You'll open the breakfast room, prep food and bake pastries, interact with guests throughout the morning, inspect rooms before check-in, handle reservations and guest messages, cover lounge food orders on bartender’s days off and during opening hours before 1pm, and keep the common areas clean and welcoming. The job is physical, varied, and social — all day, most of the time. You don't need a hospitality degree or a hotel background. Most of our best hires didn't come from the industry — they came with warmth, good instincts, and the ability to take care of things without being told twice. You make people feel at home, naturally You're comfortable working on your feet all day Once you know the rhythm, you're comfortable taking the lead on a quieter morning You notice the thing that's slightly off before anyone else does You know (or want to know) the area well enough to give real recommendations You can commit to early mornings, most weekends, and some holidays Stanton House Inn is a 21-room historic boutique bed and breakfast in Greenwich, CT — 45 minutes from Grand Central by train. Our goal is simple: guests leave happier than they arrived. Above and beyond is where we start. We are LGBTQ+ welcoming and an equal opportunity employer. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws. Note: This role requires the ability to climb stairs throughout the shift — the inn is a historic property with no elevator.
