About The Position

The Inmate Program Specialist Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and training Inmate Programs Specialists within the Tulare County Sheriff's Department. This role involves managing various inmate programs and services, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and serving as a liaison between programs, service providers, and detention staff. The position requires bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field.
• Two years of experience as an Inmate Programs Specialist or equivalent experience in a social services or criminal justice environment.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision and training of Inmate Programs Specialists in all facets of inmate programs/services.
• Participate in interviewing applicants for employment.
• Prepare employee performance evaluations.
• Monitor program compliance with grant requirements.
• Assist with the research and preparation of grant applications and funding contracts.
• Maintain statistical data and prepare reports to demonstrate program effectiveness.
• Serve as a liaison between programs, service providers, and detention staff.
• Interpret and explain departmental rules and programs to staff and the public.
