About The Position

This position is responsible for the supervision of Inland support functions related to the logistics services in Alaska.  The focus on the customer experience, logistic services and the billing and costing. Responsible for supervising the Logistics Team, Intrastate billing, the Documentation and Rating processes, drayage payables for logistics carriers, as well providing management support to others in the departments and teams. This position may be required to work on weekends. The work schedule will adjust depending on operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three to Five years of transportation or logistics experience.
  • Two to three years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of trucking industry and logistics.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high level of accuracy.
  • Computer literate, with the ability to utilize standard software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise non-supervisory employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the documentation and rating process for southbound bookings and intrastate and accessorial billing and the coordination and effective completion of month end processes.
  • Coordinates with the Freight Audit and Pricing Department to ensure tariffs and contracts are auto rating correctly, and to eliminate internal errors and ensure accurate and timely billing and collection processes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the Customer Portal to support training of employees and customers as needed and ensuring that the data is accurate
  • Play a key role in business continuity exercises and events.
  • Support key Safety initiatives.
  • Responsible for the review of payroll and its requirements.
  • Implement and maintain quality controls that ensure the department is operating effectively and efficiently -- this includes verifying processes are followed; the output is accurate and performed timely.
  • Monitor, manage all applicable KPI’s of team.
  • Be the lead trainer for all team functions, provide onboarding, work instructions and training plans for all staff.
  • Effectively perform additional duties and handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Make key day-to-day decisions. Perform departmental duties as assigned in the manager’s absence.
  • Contribute input for process and production improvements to meet company goals.
  • Support and communicate effectively with other departments to meet customer expectations.
  • Coordinate day to day scheduling of available resources.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including planning cargo deliveries, addressing service issues, and proactively acting to eliminate potential problems
