About The Position

We are searching for an experienced Ink Technician - 1st Shift at our Feasterville facility. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities Technical Role: Determines if color matching can be accomplished utilizing existing inventory. Makes solvent and water-based inks press ready by, adjusting viscosity, checking color by making hand proofs, and checking pH. Identifies ink and chemical conditions. Collects samples at pre-production and during production process; conducts physical tests and records results. Serves as a resource person by answering questions from production, planning, engineering, sales and customer service related to technical processing and application.Provides educational support to Press Operators who require ink use and mix. Prepares response to ink related complaints. Reviews all non-conformances, investigates root cause. Analyzes all contributing factors and recommends corrective actions. Sources new suppliers. Researches new vendors, obtains quotes, and compares products and suppliers for qualification (along with materials and quality). Cleans parts on certain presses by retrieving them from pressroom and soaking them in a parts cleaner (mostly for press 31). In conjunction with Technical Services: Performs tests and records data to ensure process reliability. ink strength, oviscosity, specific gravity, % of solids, pH, grind, ink stability, color match, steam oother sterilization testing, ink adhesion to substrate, Product’s resistance to solvent (alcohol) and rubbing. Conduct tests on substrate for surface treatment level. Supports customer requirements. Reviews requests (for steam stability, alcohol resistance, product resistance, ink adhesion on various substrates, and surface tension of various films), makes recommendations, creates hand proofs, creating color standards. Prepares ink and chemical documentation. Records test results, writes ink chemical requirements for purchasing, establishes ink and chemical controls for production specifications and creates THCP#s for new colors. Ink Inventory Responsibilities: Maintains ink and chemical inventory. Identifies, labels, and places inks/chemicals and supplies into stock. Records location of inventory. Ensures continued production. Distributes ink and chemicals to machines as instructed by production orders. Premixes inks and chemicals as specified. Documents ink and chemical disposition. Records units delivered and returned to stock. Inputs information into computer system. Notes discrepancies and resolves problems or notifies supervisor. Controls inventory levels. Conducts physical counts, reconciles with data storage system, and maintains order levels for various inks, chemicals and solvents. Maintains ink files. Creates logs, files, and reports.Ensures data is accurate, current and accessible. Creates, follows and trains others on quality standards, methods, and procedures. reviews department requirements, Quality Policy system, regulatory and customer requirements. Adheres to OSHA and company safety standards. Follows regulations on hazardous waste storage and removal. Enters and maintains VOC data, maintains and complies with Right to Know (Material Safety Data Sheets-MSDS) records.Maintains EPA (federal and state) requirements, reporting and record keeping.Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ink and press applications (flexographic and rotogravure).
  • Math skills adequate to create proper formulations

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training in chemical properties, mixing, storage and containment required.
  • Professional certifications required – (DOT and RCRA)
